Henry graduated with a BE degree in mechanical engineering and was awarded a PhD for studies on non-linear vibrations from the National University of Ireland (UCD,1981,85). He is currently a professor in the school of engineering at Trinity College Dublin of which he was head from 2016-22 and is a senior fellow of the college.
Since his PhD he has continued to work on modelling (numerical and analytical), testing and design of dynamic systems including those in the area of acoustics, micro-fluidics, electromechanical and structural materials.
Henry has a particular focus on model reduction enabling implementation of practical design processes. He has over 100 peer reviewed publications in the international literature with funded applications in aerospace, additive manufacturing, power generation, computational methods and environmental noise.
